Wayne & Colin Wurtz

Two generations of taking raw materials and refining them into functional art.

Colin’s perspective - “I always had a love for art and a strong creative side. My love for the arts was truly solidified during woodshop in my middle school years at North Penn. I made multiple projects that were basic, but I did everything I could to add my artistic flare. I helped my Dad make several guitars over the years. This allowed me to see what is possible with wood. When I was a Junior in High School I began working for Brad Smith at Bradford Woodworking. Working there has allowed me to further hone my skills and express my creative side. Now I enjoy working with my clients to bring their ideas to life.”

Wayne’s perspective - “In 1989, as I was returning to college, I still wanted to do something in carpentry since I was stepping away from the trade. My dad had some woodworking machinery in the basement that he let me move into the garage so that I could still build things in one location. That led to many custom furniture jobs over the next two decades. Eventually, I added a wood shop next to our home in Lansdale where I would spend many hours working on furniture projects, making guitars and cub scout Pinewood Derby cars with Colin. Witnessing Colin take on this career path has been nothing but a blessing!  His passion, creativity and personality shine through each of his projects.”

In addition to us being able to do what we love; we get to add a third generation to the mix. Bill “Pop” Wurtz adds the finishing touches with the metal detail found on certain pieces. Pop found his love for metal fabrication back in 1965 when he began working at the WM Yocum Machine Company in Creamery, PA. Pop also sparked a love of wood fabrication in each of his children and now his grandchildren.

Stay in the know - Just the important stuff, we promise.
